- Dried Flower Wreath/Crown Workshop
Natural dried flowers are beautiful and it is wonderful to be able to create something with them to decorate your home and appreciate for months to come. During this workshop you will be guided on how to work with dried flowers and will make your own wreath or flower crown (these can be interchangeable) to take home. The pictures shown are examples of what you can create with the wide range of material available. All tools and materials are provided although you are welcome to bring anything from home that you might like to use. The workshop is limited to 8 people so that I can guarantee everyone gets enough attention or help.
- Willow heart with dried flowers
Enjoy some quality time with a small group, creating and chatting whilst making a beautiful willow heart for you or a loved one You will be guided through the process of forming a heart from willow and then choose from a beautiful selection of dried flowers to decorate it with. I can tell you about the processes I use to grow flowers for drying, from seed to end product. All materials will be supplied and refreshments available. I grow and dry all the flowers locally using environmentally friendly practices.
- Easter Holiday crafts - Mini garden
Let your imagination go wild and make a mini garden of your dreams. There will be a great selection of materials to work with. Everything is provided but you can bring your own special additions too. Aimed at 7-14 year old age group but not excluding others
- Successful seed sowing - vegetables
This May workshop aims to give you the confidence to sow your own seeds and know how to look after them to produce healthy vegetables. We will sow some here that you can take home. I will focus on a selection of seasonal seeds: the big ones - from a selection including cucumbers, maincrop potatoes, courgettes, squash, all the beans, sweetcorn plus some smaller seeds suitable for sowing now. You are welcome to bring your own seed packets too. What we will cover: Which seeds to sow direct now vs sowing in containers Containers and compost How to plant out and look after your plantlets once in the ground Any questions focussing on any particular areas you want to address I will bring a tomato plant to demonstrate removing side shoots, a potato that has been chitted, and a purple basil to pinch back and propagate from. All materials such as pots, labels, seeds and compost will be provided but please bring gloves if you would like them, an apron or clothes that won't mind a bit of compost on and a medium sized box or container to bring your pots/trays home in. I will focus on a selection of seeds suitable for sowing now, all of which are great as cut flowers. You are welcome to bring any seed packets that you have already bought and intend to sow this year. What we will cover: what containers to use what compost germination preferences like heat, light hardy vs half hardy annuals problems particularly focussing on all your current questions I will bring some 'that I sowed earlier' for you to experience pricking out seedlings so that you know what to do when yours are at the right stage. All materials such as pots, labels, seeds and compost will be provided but please bring gloves if you would like them, an apron or clothes that won't mind a bit of compost on and a medium sized box or container to bring your pots/trays home in. Sprouting heads are a fun way to engage with the magic of seeds and their growth. We will make two versions of seed heads (different seeds and different heads/animals), decorate the containers and sow the seeds. Take them home and watch them grow. These seeds are quick growing and will show signs of life after just a few days. Everything is provided. Aimed at 7-14 year old age group but not excluding others
- Willow stars
A guided session to learn how to make a willow star, with or without wand. Make as many as you have time to do. Approx 10cm high (without wand) Hang them individually or string together like a paper chain All materials and tools are provided
